A joint venture by the Harbin Aircraft Industry Group and Airbus will start manufacturing composite materials parts and components for A320 aircrafts next month. And the new workshops of the joint venture will be put into operation next year.
The Hafei Airbus Composite Materials Manufacturing Center is the latest fruit of the cooperation between Chinese companies and aircraft maker Airbus. Harbin Aviation Industry Group holds 80% of the joint venture, with Airbus's Chinese operation holding 20%.
Next month, the venture will start making composite materials parts and components for A320 aircrafts and participate in the production of A350 XWB work-packages.
Airbus and the National Development and Reform Commission signed a memorandum in Beijing in 2007 to strengthen their cooperation. According to the memo, 5% of the A350 XWB airframe will be allocated to Chinese aircraft makers.
With the development of the cooperation, more Chinese enterprises and companies will participate in the manufacturing of A350 XWB passenger jets. It is estimated that the annual value of Airbus's industrial cooperation with China's aviation industry will be near 200 million US dollars in 2010.
